Nissan Skyline R34 GTR
The Nissan Skyline R34 GTR was the factory produced muscle car version of the Skyline which came equipped with many race inspired innovations. But it was the boys from Nismo the really turned the Skyline into a road rocket. The Nissan Skyline R34 GTR and GTR V-Spec models were released in 1999. The Nissan Skyline R34 The interior featured a 5.8” LCD multifunction display in the dash center, which gave seven different live readings on the workings of the Nissan Skyline R34 GTR, vehicle statistics such as turbocharger pressure, oil and water temperature amongst others. Like the R33 the new Nissan Skyline R34 GTR V-Spec is equipped with the ATTESA E-TS Pro system and active LSD at the rear. The V-Spec also had stiffer lowered suspension, front air diffuser and a rear In August 2000 Nissan released the Skyline R34 V-Spec II which featured even stiffer suspension, larger rear brake rotors, carbon fiber hood which was lighter than the previous aluminium hoods used on the previous model. Inside the new Nissan Skyline R34 V-Spec II had an iridium center console and alloy pedals, plus the seats were trimmed in black cloth over the gray cloth as used on previous Nissan Skyline R34 GTR’s. In February 2002 the final production model of the Nissan Skyline R34 GTR called the Nur was released, Nissan also released a limited Manufacturer Special called the M-Spec. The Nur was named after the famed German racetrack Nurburgring were the car was developed. The Now lets talk about the Nismo Z tune which basically started out as Nissan Skyline R34 GTR’s but essentially were handmade from the chassis up. The bodies were reinforced and stiffened by seam welding important areas of the body such as door seams and frames. Carbon fiber is added to the strut towers, transmission tunnel and engine bay. The drive train engine, gearbox, differential and suspension were totally redesigned for maximum efficiency and reliability. There were only 200 of these street legal cars produced for the world market with prices in excess of $180,000 making the Z tune the most expensive Nissan Skyline R34 GTR ever built. |
