Lamborghini Diablo VT
The Lamborghini Diablo VT was a specialized version of the Diablo that was designed to put a lot more bling into the already beautiful Diablo model. The ultimate version being the Diablo VT 6.0 the final example of this car. The Lamborghini Diablo VT came into existence after the designers decided a more specialized
version of the Lamborghini Diablo was needed hence the VT went into production in 1993. Starting with the basic Lamborghini Diablo platform the VT which stands for Viscous Traction was equipped with an all wheel drive system, improved power steering, new wheel and tire combination and four piston Brembo brakes. One outstanding feature on the Lamborghini Diablo VT was the computerized suspension with its aggressively tuned Koni shocks that had 4 separate modes electronically controlled via buttons in the driver’s cabin along with an auto mode that let the computer do the work.
When the Lamborghini Diablo VT debuted at the Geneva show in 1992 it had alongside it an open topped version of the same model, other than its removable Targa style carbon fiber roof panel and
revised taillights there were minor styling changes, but it would be three years before this particular version of the Lamborghini VT would see production. The final version of Lamborghini Diablo was the VT 6.0 model. When Audi AG took over the company the first thing that Luc Donckerwolke as a designer was asked to do was modernize the Lamborghini Diablo VT design. So the Lamboughini Diablo VT 6.0 was born, it is safe to say that the latest VT 6.0 was by far the best Lamborghini Diablo ever.
There was no mistaking this Lamborghini Diablo VT from previous models with its massive front
bumpers two large air intakes, big 18 inch mono block wheels reminiscent of the early five hole wheels on the Contach, centre mounted tree sized twin exhaust to help the healthy 550 horsepower V12 breath. Inside there was a carbon fiber centre console a new steering wheel plus a totally new air conditioning system to help stop the sweaty palms when that lovely sounding V12 was working hard. This model sold extremely well and several hundred were built making the last of this model the epitome of the Lamborghini Diablo VT. |
