Greenlight models press releases
Posted On 2010-06-17 , 4:02 AM
Hi,
How are you going, these are a couple of press release from Greenlight Models that I thought you might be interested in:
GreenLight Debuts the 1:18 Black Bandit Series with a famous Volkswagen Duo
An unanimous appreciation for Volkswagen paired with the Black Bandit theme makes this 1:18 scale GreenLight Special Edition.
Indianapolis, IN (June 21, 2010) GreenLight pairs the Microbus and the Beetle in this 1:18 Series as homage to the internationally unmistakable German engineered Volkswagen. This summer’s wave of the 1:18 Black Bandit Series is the second release after a Toys “R” Us exclusive premiered earlier this year. The Black Bandit theme is meticulously produced with a triple-black theme. Black body paint, black interior detail, and custom black wheels are the distinguishing characteristics of these "outlaw" vehicles. The sleek styling of these renegade die-cast replicas give collectors all over the world a series to look forward to.
This two car series Includes:
1967 Volkswagen Beetle
1962 Volkswagen Microbus
In 1967 the Volkswagen Beetle had made some major strides within the model. While the car itself didn't get any bigger, many of its mechanical systems and components did. For starters, a bigger engine, more horsepower, larger capacity of the electrical generator and an upgraded volt system. The addition of other improvements and new standard equipment put the final “punch” in this buggy.
The 1962 Volkswagen Microbus, after the Beetle, might be VW's most famous vehicle. It owes its ability to be instantly recognizable, to its association with the 1960s and the counterculture movement. Like the Beetle, the Microbus was a rear-engine vehicle, and as in the Beetle, the engine helped improve traction for the vehicle's rear wheels. The Microbus is referred to by a number of names; “Minibus”, “Hippie van”, “Splitscreen” or “Splittie” and among American enthusiasts it is common to reference by the number of windows. However you wish to call this model it is most assuredly sensational.
These 1:18 die-cast replicas feature detailed engines, real rubber tires, metal body and chassis, detailed graphics, custom license plates and are officially licensed. Their release is scheduled for Summer 2010 with a limited production of 3,000 pieces each and will be available through official GreenLight official hobby shops and wholesale dealers. For more information about GreenLight's 1:18 scale and other quality collectibles from GreenLight, visit http://www.greenlightcollectibles.com.

Follow the Flashing Lights to GreenLight's 1:64 Hot Pursuit 3
Every vehicle in this GreenLight Line is officially licensed by the
individual police department.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (June 7, 2010) Almost everyone has a childhood memory of a
toy police die cast car, they represent safety, allow one to play the role
of authority and are the perfect beginning to the lifelong love of die cast
collecting. Though they don't have the power to write you a ticket
GreenLight Collectibles has continued to represent complete authenticity
with the newest release of the 1:64 Hot Pursuit Series 3. For those not
familiar to the series Hot Pursuit includes police, fire chief and patrol
cars from past and present municipalities across America.
When choosing which cars to use in this hot series GreenLight has truly
listened to what the collectors want. Numerous requests for larger
departments as well as the positive feedback received from past patrol cars
prompted GreenLight to included three state patrol cars (Alabama, Nevada and
Wisconsin). The set also includes two county sheriff cars for variety,
Rockdale County Georgia and Boone County Missouri. But by far the most
unique car in the series is the 1981 Chevy Corvette, property of the
Waterford, Connecticut police department. This car was seized from a drug
dealer and has since been used as part of the Waterford police's
anti-narcotics education programs. "This isn't your every day police
cruiser, but we hope collectors respond well and appreciate it as such an
interesting model" says Matthew Elliot, Director of Production. "This
uncommon police vehicle choice paired with the unique paint scheme is the
type of rare but authentic model GreenLight tries to showcase from time to
time to add great variety to the set."
This six car series includes:
-1:64 1981 Chevrolet Corvette Waterford Police Department (Waterford, CT)
-1:64 2008 Crown Victoria Boone County Sheriff (Columbia, Missouri)
-1:64 2008 Crown Victoria Nevada Highway Patrol
-1:64 2008 Dodge Charger Alabama State Police
-1:64 2008 Dodge Charger Rockdale County Sheriff (Georgia)
-1:64 2008 Dodge Charger Wisconsin State Patrol
These die-cast replicas feature opening hoods, detailed engines, real rubber
tires, metal body and chassis, detailed graphics, custom license plates and
are officially licensed by the respective automobile companies. Quantities
are limited to 6,500 units open to the public and will be available in
July/August 2010. These are expected to be hot sellers based on the
performance of the previous series so be sure to grab yours quickly...but
remember, no speeding!
GreenLight(r) Collectibles is a premier manufacturer and marketer of
officially licensed, authentic die-cast replica vehicles. In 2009, the
company expanded to thirteen distinct product lines. GreenLight die-cast
replicas are available in 1:18, 1:24 and 1:64 scale and are officially
licensed by General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, Carroll Shelby
Licensing, Barrett-Jackson Auction Company, Grand-Am Road Racing

How to care and look after your Diecast Models.
Posted On 2010-06-06 , 1:36 AM
Hi and welcome back, today I would just like to say a few words on how to look after and care for your Diecast models.
What I have found is that most products that you can use to clean and polish your family car with are okay to use as long as they are quality brands not your no frills generic crap. Whatever product you do decide to use just apply it sparingly to the surface and polish off with a good lint free cloth ie cheese cloth. When cleaning the windows just remember that they are only plastic and can be scratched very easily so have patience and take your time so as to avoid any damage.
To help with removing any dust that may have accumulated on your model before polishing, I found that a quick raid on my wifes make-up cabinet revealed a good selection of brushes with very fine hairs in all sorts of sizes , and with these in hand was able to get my models dust free with ease.
If you want to buy special polish that is made just for diecast models Go Motor Bids has a polish that is specially designed to wax and polish all diecast collectibles I believe that they have it on special at the moment for $64.99 for a case of 24x2oz bottles, if you are interested in something like this, there website is at www.gomotorbids .com {you will find it under the Get It New heading}
Well thats about it for now next week I will talk about storing and also displaying your diecast models.

BEST-SELLING MECUM AUCTION VEHICLES NOW AVAILABLE AS DIE-CAST MODEL REPLICAS
1:64 Scale Cars on Sale at Original Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis
MARENGO, Ill. - Mecum Collector Car Auctions has teamed up with GreenLight Collectibles, a die-cast car manufacturer based in Indianapolis, Ind., to produce 1:64 scale replicas of select high-profile automobiles sold across the Mecum Auction block. The limited-edition replica vehicles will be available for sale during Dana Mecum's 23rd Original Spring Classic Auction, May 19-23, 2010, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
"These high-quality die-cast collectibles are a wonderful way for enthusiasts at any budget to take home a car of their dreams," said President Dana Mecum. "The GreenLight replicas are exact reproductions of some of the most sought-after cars featured at our events. They are both a nice keepsake item as well as a perfect gift idea for car enthusiasts."
GreenLight, which was founded in 2002 by Kevin Davey, a former licensing director at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, currently showcases three cars sold at Mecum Auctions in its Auction Block Series 11, including a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle COPO sold for $310,000 at Mecum's 2009 Original Spring Classic Auction; a 1966 Shelby GT-350 Hertz Fastback that Mecum sold for $112,500 at their 2009 Kissimmee, Fla., Auction; and a 1971 Dodge Charger R/T Hemi sold for $215,000 at the 2008 Original Spring Classic Auction. The highly collectible series, which has a limited production run of 4,000 units, features opening hoods, detailed engines, real rubber tires, metal body and chassis, detailed graphics and custom license plates.
In May 2010, GreenLight and Mecum will introduce the Auction Block Series 12 line, which will include three more die-cast cars modeled after prominent Mecum auction sales: a 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge, sold for $350,000 at the 2009 St. Charles, Ill., Auction; a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette 427 that sold for $80,000 at the 2009 Kansas City, Kan. Auction; and a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (Top Up) that Mecum sold for $196,000 at the 2009 Bloomington Gold Corvette Auction.
The companies are also collaborating on a 1:18 scale replica of the famous 1965 Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe CSX2601, which sold at Mecum's Monterey Auction in 2009 for a record-breaking $7.25 million - the highest price ever paid for an American car at public auction. The replica will be available July 2010 with only 1,900 produced.
"We are excited to grow our relationship with Mecum Auctions," said Jeff Nelson, national sales manager, GreenLight Collectibles. "Their broad recognition and esteemed reputation in the auction marketplace allows us to create replicas of some extremely remarkable cars, and we look forward to working with them on more die-cast cars in the future."
In addition to onsite auction sales, the die-cast cars are available at www.mecumgear.com for $5 plus shipping and handling. They are also sold at select retail outlets including Toys "R" Us, Inc., KMart and Meijer.
